12 weeks Baby Beh Beh

I went for my Nuchal Translucency Scan yesterday but it didn't go as planned.

I was lying on the reclining scanning chair for what seemed to be ages.

Baby is doing fine. Saw it's arms and legs moving and waving about!

But the main purpose of the scan was to measure the fluid under the baby's neck.

As little Beh Beh wouldn't co-operate with us, the Sonographer couldn't get an accurate measurement.

In the end, after spending 30mins on the chair, I'm now scheduled for a Triple Test. It's a blood test for Down's Syndrome done at 16 weeks.

It's still un-real to me at the moment that there is a baby growing in my belly! The only way I realise that "I AM pregnant!" is looking at the screen, a baby shaped form with waving arms and kicking legs! When there is no screen to look at, it all feels surreal again...

My Beanie Baby...

This is the 1st public photo of my little beanie at 8+5.

I put it up here becuz practically NOBODY reads my BLOG (I'm still using MSN's Blog faithfully!) well maybe only Angie and Keeve. But who are they gonna tell eh? ;-p

I didn't know being pregnant requires lots of tests! Lots of blood tests!
My next scan is on the 29th September which would make me 12 weeks. I believe it's also the dating scan and can tell me my EDD.

I've also opted for a Nuchal Translucency Scan. It's where they measure the fluid collected under the beanie's neck to determine the chance of not having or having Downs Syndrome.

It's all a little nerve wrecking but heck, whatever the outcome, he or she is still a human being.

I just need to see that little heart beating on the monitors! To be reassured. To know that baby is growing well.

In the meantime, more resting and lazing...and watching DVDs in bed. Ahhh....nice.
